It is with great sadness that the Cork Potters society have just heard the news that Leda May died peacefully on Saturday 25th February 2023.
Leda was born in London and studied etching and pottery at Hornsea College. She moved to West Cork in the late 60’s with her husband Bob. Leda set up one of the first pottery studios in West Cork, producing a range of stoneware tableware with simple brush decoration. She then moved on to porcelain producing sculptural platters with beautiful cobalt brushwork. Her brilliance can be seen in her fluid confident brushwork that stands out like a beacon of light. Leda was a potter of outstanding talent and will be sorely missed but very fondly remembered.
